Sailing

Rigging of a sailboat suffers no fools
A windy day is often not serene
The tiller and the main line are my tools
I shift my weight to counteract the lean
I alternate the port and starboard tack
I’m set to let out line or be chagrined
I trim the sail and watch so that I track
The present course that heads against the wind
The jibe is the most difficult technique
The metal boom can take you by surprise
It flies across the boat in a quick streak
And if you’re not prepared you might capsize
The height of inspiration is for me
When wind comes from the stern and I run free
