Exiled

Deposited into the melting pot
In New York’s harbor he saw the statue
Exiled from his country, that was his lot
This symbol of freedom was his first view
As a mechanic he drew plans by hand
He tapped into his talent as creator
He came to be the best throughout the land
Improving Liberty’s elevator
With a strong work ethic he raised me well
I owe him a big debt of gratitude
It warms my heart that I have this to tell
The payment of this debt goes to my brood
His diligence was always a strong trait
A brave and worthy man to emulate
