Sculling
Left hand on top, the right hand just below
Extend the arms, knees curvilinear
Oar ends are as far back as they can go
Twist wrists to make oars perpendicular
Then lift hands up slightly so oars submerge
Now pull with all your might using your back
Although you face the stern you feel the surge
Knees and back straighten, elbows now retract
Lowering hands, oars come up, this for that
The awe you feel subsides as the boat slows
Now twist the wrists to make the paddles flat
Return arms, back and knees to the first pose
The cycle’s rhythm and repetition
Allow you to improve your movement’s course
By focusing on every small motion
Resulting in more speed without more force
Movements become more fluid with practice
Propel yourself by using strength and skill
The lake’s charm is before you to notice
The wonder of it all a special thrill
