Humans are carnivores that have evolved
An eye for an eye was fair, so we thought
Our bent for violence has yet to be solved
In this day and age there are wars still fought

We are an enormous arms exporter
Arms are a very lucrative business
In Asia dwells the largest importer
This powder keg foretells a future mess

Accepting money from the NRA
To spend on a political campaign
Puts the politician under their sway
Although it’s legal, it is quite insane

The human race has the earth as its post
We lack a predator that culls our race
We’re like a virus destroying its host
We’re killing ourselves by killing our place

Population growth is something to mourn
Due to finite resources of the earth
Perhaps a tax on every third child born
That grows with every incremental birth

It’s greed and suffering that leads to war
Are we not smart enough to make it cease?
It’s cruel to expose people to the gore
Does one not have the right to live in peace?
